If you are one of the thousands of people each year considering aesthetic cosmetic surgery, we have some good news for you. Advances in three-dimensional (3D) photography, combined with revolutionary software developments, now allow our prospective patients to get a detailed preview of what they will look like after breast augmentation, facial procedures, and other cosmetic surgery.
At Ciao Bella Cosmetic Surgery, we are proud to offer VECTRA® 3D Imaging. This technology can help turn your aesthetic goals into a clear, shared vision between you and your surgeon.
VECTRA® 3D Imaging is an advanced digital technology that captures high-resolution, three-dimensional renderings of the areas of the body where surgery or enhancements may take place.
Unlike traditional 2D photographs or flat digital morphing, VECTRA® 3D builds an exact, photorealistic 360-degree model of each patient’s unique anatomy. This allows a surgeon to view their natural contours from every angle and explore potential post-surgical outcomes before ever stepping into an operating room.
VECTRA® 3D helps to eliminate pre-surgical anxiety by producing a clear, tangible look at how a procedure will affect a patient’s body. Patients can compare different surgical choices effortlessly, such as trying on different breast implant sizes, profiles, or shapes to find an ideal balance. This process also helps ensure that the patient and surgeon are in complete alignment on the patient’s personal aesthetic goals before a procedure begins.
For our surgeons, VECTRA® 3D allows a way to precisely map incision lines, plan cartilage or volume adjustments, and tailor a procedure to each patient’s specific body structure. The technology helps detect subtle natural asymmetries, such as facial bone structure or chest wall variations, so they can be planned for in advance.
VECTRA® 3D also assists with long-term progress tracking. Post-operative scans can be overlaid with original 3D renders to precisely monitor healing, volume retention, and aesthetic symmetry over time.
VECTRA® 3D is a completely non-invasive diagnostic photography tool that uses standard light flashes. This makes it safe for anyone who is considering cosmetic surgery.
The technology is best suited for patients considering procedures that involve clear, structural changes in volume or contours. These include:
VECTRA® 3D does have certain limitations. Since it is best suited for procedures that involve major structural shapes and volumes, it is not typically to assess textural skin conditions or internal structures like muscles or bones. It also requires baseline stability to ensure accurate model rendering, and so is less suited when a patient has active swelling or unstable body weight.
VECTRA® 3D technology utilizes versatile hardware capture setups designed to acquire complete anatomical geometry. These include fixed studio systems where multiple ultra-high-resolution wall cameras capture simultaneous 360-degree views in milliseconds, portable and handheld cameras setups used for targeted facial or body captures, and specialized multi-camera arrays used for total-body contour modeling.
The imaging process is quick, simple, and takes less than 10 to 15 minutes in total.
Preparation is simple. For facial scans, we ask that patients arrive with a clean face (no makeup), tie their hair back, and remove any facial jewelry or eyeglasses. For body scans, we recommend that patients wear comfortable, easy-to-remove clothing. Our office can provide a specialized imaging bra or garment provided by our office for precise measurement.
The patient is gently guided through the proper positioning in front of the cameras in order to capture the necessary images. These are then knitted together into a full 3D model. After this process, a surgeon can sit down with the patient to review their 3D model and recommended cosmetic procedures.
During your consultation, VECTRA® 3D generates an interactive 360-degree digital rendering that can be rotated, tilted, and zoomed from any angle. It provides precise measurements and allows for split-screen comparisons of the patient’s current appearance and a simulation of how they may appear after a procedure.
Note: VECTRA® 3D software models realistic outcomes using actual surgical physics, precise anatomical metrics, and real implant profiles. While post-healing results typically match the simulation very closely, the 3D model serves as a visual guide rather than a guaranteed medical outcome, as skin elasticity, healing speed, and other factors vary from person to person.
At Ciao Bella, we primarily use VECTRA® 3D for breast enhancement procedures (augmentations, lifts, reductions, revisions), facial enhancements (rhinoplasty, chin/jaw contouring, facial volume), and body contouring (liposuction, abdominoplasty, and mommy makeovers).
The actual image capture takes less than a second, and rendering the 3D model takes about a minute. Guided positioning and image review with your surgeon bring the total session time to roughly 10 to 15 minutes.
Yes! The software can simulate combined procedure outcomes simultaneously. For instance, during a mommy makeover consultation, you can preview a tummy tuck and a breast augmentation together on your own 3D model.
The system relies on real surgical physics, precise anatomical measurements, and actual implant specs to generate highly realistic outcomes. It provides an exceptionally accurate operational blueprint to guide your surgeon. However, natural biological variations like individual skin elasticity and personal healing rates can create subtle differences from the digital model.
